She had done it again. This time there would be no song and dance about it, no last minute favors to save her this time.
It would have been a clean one too, if not for the chance tattle tale hiding in the wings.
Smirking to herself, atleast it was a highly respected assassin that had caught her and not some petty cut purse like last time.
It had been a well planned out and executed attempt to lighten the shopkeepers stores. Her intentions weren't purely greed motivated, he was after all overcharging, and helping the syndicate. She had shown the captain proof, and yet the information had fallen on dead ears.....
She remembered the conversation so clearly...

Walking into the office, the officer at the door scowling. "What do YOU want," he had scowled at her, as if she were some lowly beggar.
She had contemplated using some blind powder on him and just sneaking into the commanders office. The thought was brief, but the idea must somehow have crept into the seasoned man's head, he fingered the hilt as of his sword as he eyed her up and down.
"I'm here to see the Captain, I have news of a threat at the mercantile, and its for his eyes and ears only." She finished a little more curt than she should have perhaps.
He sneered at her, about to dismiss her, when the door swung open and out stepped the chancellor and the Captain. They were finishing their conversation with friendly whispers, as both men moved quickly to the door, neither noticed her standing at the desk.
"A pleasure as always Chancellor," the captain spoke with a half bow, and saluted the man as he walked out of the building.
The Chancellor merely nodded and proceeded quickly out the door.
"That man is either very smart, or very dangerous," the captain spoke softly to himself as his eyes suddenly realized there was another person in the office.
Straightening himself up to his full stature, he turned and stared at her directly, "May I help you?"
She had been soaking in all the details of the encounter, and made a note to check her sources about the chancellor. She faced the captain squarely and responded, "I have information for you about an old friend. Trias said you might hear me out."
She hated dropping names, particularly Trias. To use his name would put an obvious tint on any encounters with an individual, but it was the only way to gain an immediate audience, and the captain was the man she needed right now.
He had listened to her story, from beginning to end, while seemingly uninterested, sorting and signing paperwork on his desk. She had been enraged. When she finally gave up, he nearly had her carry the parcels like a common delivery boy. She finally stood up and stormed out of the office.

... yes she remembered he encounter well, and now she would have twice payment for her insolence and her attempted robbery.
If only she could think of some plan to get out of this...
